Washington DC / Capitol KOA, Millersville, MD

DSC00298We decided to take a break from dock diving, and visit Annapolis since we had never been there.  We decided to stay at the Washington  DC/Capitol KOA.

This campground was well taken care of, the bath house was super-clean, AND they had a great doggie play area with agility equipment!

The campground staff could not have been nicer – and every employee that rode by on a golf cart stopped to say hello to the dogs, and give them a treat!  The friendliness towards dogs here is unbelievable!  The drive to Annapolis was about 15-20 minutes.

We stayed on site 11:

We would definitely stay here again!

We camped at Frontier town Campground in Berlin, MD for Cello’s Pooch Palooza dock diving event.  I have to say – this may be one of my favorite campgrounds!

I can’t wait to go back!!

This campground boats a theme park, water park, crabbing docks, arcade, restaurant (with excellent food!!), saloon, miniature golf, horse back riding, water park, and a “High Ropes” obstacle course suspended in the air in the trees!

We stayed on site “Red 14” (Z 16) – and it was AWESOME! The only other site we saw that was slightly better view than ours was Z 16.

Our site, Z 14:

Both Lager and Rita camped here as well the following year!

Staunton/Walnut Hills KOA, Staunton, VA

Looking at the AAA magazine one evening, an article caught my eye about a small town in Virginia ranked one of the top 20 small towns in the United States…Staunton, VA.  After doing some research, and having never stayed at a KOA before, we decided to give Staunton/Walnut Hills KOA a try for our annual Easter camping trip.  Not only was Staunton/Walnut Hills KOA in close proximity to the town of Staunton, it is also located between the Blue Ridge and Appalachian Mountain ranges on the site of a former walnut plantation…pretty awesome!

Our campsite was right on the lake, and was spacious and clean.

The campground had a fenced-in dog run, so of course we broke out the “Chuck-It,” and let Cello run like the wind!
