Unfortunately, I cannot access the event results due to construction on the DockDogs website.  However, I can report, for the second year in a row, Cello won first place in the finals at this event!  THIS time, she won first place in the Elite Division, which is one whole division higher than the first place Masters Division spot she earned last year!

It was a chilly weekend, but we had a ton of fun, and were very proud of Cello’s performance!

This was Cello’s last dock diving event of 2014.

This year Cello earned both a Club and National Masters Title in Big Air, as well as a Club Elite title in Big Air.  She also earned a new personal best jump in Big Air of 23′ 7″  (her first dock diving jump ever in September 2013 was 12’8″)!!  Cello tried Extreme Vertical for the first time, and placed 2nd and 3rd in finals for the Cadet division.  Her personal best EV jump right now is 5’6″.

We are very proud of all her accomplishments this year, and very much look forward to the 2015 Season!

Nourse Farm, Easton, Maryland

Cello participated in Easton’s Waterfowl Festival Dock Diving contest, and we usually camp for this event.  However,  fellow members of the Chesapeake DockDogs club had invited us to stay with them in a home they rented at Nourse Farm.

We accepted, and are SO glad we did!  This place was amazing, and getting to spend time with dock diving friends before and after the event was priceless!

Hooch and Cello had the time of their lives!

Here is Hooch jumping in for the first time (and then swimming VERY awkwardly!!) Cello is the one with the bright green collar.

Once Hooch got in, he did NOT want to get out!

All the dogs had a great time!

Hooch was pooped each night, and snored like an old man!

The home also had a 120 foot dock and a gorgeous water view:

There was a fisherman’s cabin too!

Hooch was fearful of the staircases, so we had to carry him up and down!

Staying in this awesome home with good friends made this trip complete.  We had SUCH a great time!

Back to Holiday Park Campground, Greensboro, MD

November 2013

Cello was participating in a dock diving contest in Easton, and Holiday Park was the closest campground to Easton.  We had been here before (our first camping trip with our travel trailer almost a year ago) and enjoyed the campground, our view, and the location (close to St. Michaels, Easton, and Annapolis).   Friends Brandi, Stan, their daughter, Payton, and their dog Guinness joined us for this trip.  Cello won her first 1st place medal while dock diving, and for the first time won 1st place overall in the Masters Division of her dock diving contest!

VERY exciting news…Cello won her first First Place Ribbon ever! She won a total of 1 Senior Division medal, and 2 in the Masters Division! She qualified for finals and won FIRST PLACE in the Masters Division Finals!!!!!! We were FLOORED!  She won a big First Place ribbon, and gift basket, $50, and a $25 gift certificate to Cabela’s! WOOO HOOOOOOO!

We were very excited for this event!  We were told at the last event (Decoy Show) that this is event has a big turn-out.  We camped at Holiday Park Campground in Greensboro, MD. What a fun weekend we had!  Although we did not get to see the “heart” of the Waterfowl festival, we got to visit St. Michael’s… and stopped at St. Michael’s Crab House for a celebratory beverage.  Cello bellied-up to the bar and earned a free “drink” (water) from the bartender after giving lots of kisses! We also discovered a wonderful dog-friendly place called  Ava’s Pizzeria and Wine Bar (also in St. Michael’s)… where they had a special menu just for dogs! (Hammy’s Dog Menu!)  We were able to sit outside in the heated patio area with Cello, where we enjoyed a fresh Pizza, and Cello delighted in her Beef Stew.

We learned several lessons at the last 2 events: These events are long – bring a chair! …and Cello has such a thin coat, that she was cold in between jumps.  We met another GSP dock diving contestant at the Decoy show (Bailey)…and Bailey’s “mom,” Annie, introduced me to an awesome dog coat that Bailey wears.  (By the way – Annie’s blog (the little GSP) also inspired me to start this blog for Cell0… thanks, Annie!!) We bought a whole “set-up” to camp out at by the dive pool, and purchased Cello a coat like Bailey’s from Trover Coats overseas!  We were prepared for this event!

Brian is happy with our new set-up for dock diving events…and Cello is nice and toasty in her new “Bone Dry” coat made by Trover Coats!  …much better than standing around all day!
