From Camping to GLAMping…Holiday Park Campground, Greensboro, MD

October 2012

Our first trip with our new travel trailer was to Holiday Park Campground.  Aunt Joyce and Uncle Johnny bought a travel trailer as well, and they came with us on this trip.  The campground was nice, and we took a day trip to St. Michaels. This campground was not full hookup, so it was also our first experience with a dump station… (Gross!…Definitely Brian’s job!)

Big Meadows Campground, Shenandoah National Park/Skyline Drive, Luray, VA

August 2011

Our  anniversary trip to Big Meadows Campground was such a memorable one!  Deer had no fear and would walk right up to the campsite, drives on Skyline Drive, great hikes, bear sightings, and anniversary dinner, camp style!

North/South Lake, Haines Falls, NJ

July 2012

North/South Lake was another favorite trip of ours.  The campground was beautiful, our site was right on the water, and we had a bear walk right by our campsite each night!  It was so neat to see, but very scary to have a bear only 15-20 feet away from us!  We had to sign a waiver at this campground about the bear, and agree to take the necessary precautions – which luckily WE did – because that bear that walked by our campsite ransacked another tenting family’s tent who didn’t follow the rules, and had food inside their tent!  Great hikes here as well.

Dingmans Campground, Dingmans Ferry, PA (DE Water Gap Area)

June 2012

Boyfriend Memphis, and his parents Chris & Cindy joined us for this trip to Dingmans Campground. It was a great weekend with a trip to Bushkill Falls for a short hike.  Our campsite was right on the Delaware River.  Right after we retired to inside the tent the first night, we had  what sounded like a pack of wild coyotes run by – it was so scary to hear something like that so close by!

Ricketts Glen State Park, Benton, PA

May 2012

Ricketts Glen State Park – one of the most beautiful campgrounds with one of our favorite hikes ever – we hiked a short while and saw over 20 waterfalls – beautiful! My Aunt Joyce and Uncle Johnny joined us on this trip – THEIR first tent camping trip ever! (They were hooked after just one trip as well!)

First Camping Trip! Blue Rocks Family Campground, Lenhartsville, PA

October 2011

Our first camping trip -ever -for all of us! We went to Blue Rocks Family Campground.  Brian and I had never tent camped before, but we thought it would be a great activity to get into for Cello – and for us.  Cello was just 7 months old on this trip.  She was so calm and content – we had a great weekend! Little did we know it was the start of an obsession!

We bought a tent with a front porch area…just like at home 😉

2013 Easton Waterfowl Festival, Easton, MD, Hosted by Delmarva Dock Dogs

VERY exciting news…Cello won her first First Place Ribbon ever! She won a total of 1 Senior Division medal, and 2 in the Masters Division! She qualified for finals and won FIRST PLACE in the Masters Division Finals!!!!!! We were FLOORED!  She won a big First Place ribbon, and gift basket, $50, and a $25 gift certificate to Cabela’s! WOOO HOOOOOOO!

We were very excited for this event!  We were told at the last event (Decoy Show) that this is event has a big turn-out.  We camped at Holiday Park Campground in Greensboro, MD. What a fun weekend we had!  Although we did not get to see the “heart” of the Waterfowl festival, we got to visit St. Michael’s… and stopped at St. Michael’s Crab House for a celebratory beverage.  Cello bellied-up to the bar and earned a free “drink” (water) from the bartender after giving lots of kisses! We also discovered a wonderful dog-friendly place called  Ava’s Pizzeria and Wine Bar (also in St. Michael’s)… where they had a special menu just for dogs! (Hammy’s Dog Menu!)  We were able to sit outside in the heated patio area with Cello, where we enjoyed a fresh Pizza, and Cello delighted in her Beef Stew.

We learned several lessons at the last 2 events: These events are long – bring a chair! …and Cello has such a thin coat, that she was cold in between jumps.  We met another GSP dock diving contestant at the Decoy show (Bailey)…and Bailey’s “mom,” Annie, introduced me to an awesome dog coat that Bailey wears.  (By the way – Annie’s blog (the little GSP) also inspired me to start this blog for Cell0… thanks, Annie!!) We bought a whole “set-up” to camp out at by the dive pool, and purchased Cello a coat like Bailey’s from Trover Coats overseas!  We were prepared for this event!

Brian is happy with our new set-up for dock diving events…and Cello is nice and toasty in her new “Bone Dry” coat made by Trover Coats!  …much better than standing around all day!
