Beautiful Bella, the German Shorthaired Pointer Puppy
We received a post from the GSP Rescue of NJ about an owner-surrender situation. Someone had purchased a GSP puppy from Tennesee, not having researched the breed very well. The puppy arrived to NJ at 8 weeks of age, and 8 weeks later, the owner was in over their head. They could not provide this pup with an appropriate amount of exercise to diminish the GSP puppy craziness, so they decided to surrender the puppy to our rescue. As soon as I read 16 week old female puppy, I could not help myself! We agreed to foster this baby until a forever family was found for her.
On October 17th we picked Bella up from her home.
We immediately fell in love with Bella! She was loving, playful, and got along with Cello and Hooch so well! We actually gave thought to adopting her ourselves!
Hooch could’t keep up with the girls!

Bella had a blast running off lead in our yard! 
Bella has one ear that is shorter than the other…our vet said it looks to have been “cut” off.

In just 6 short days, Bella was adopted by a family that lives not too far from us. We hope to get all our pups together for play-dates often!
Bella is now known as Pepper, and is just loving her new life!! She is living with an AMAZING family who just adores her, has a HUGE yard to run all that GSP energy off, and has (2) very beautiful and loving 2-legged sisters, and (1) 4-legged sister named Mocha. Mocha is a Viszla/Weimaraner mix who looks like Cello’s twin!

Pepper is a very lucky gal to have found such an awesome home, and we are so thankful for having met her new wonderful forever family! We are SO happy for Pepper!
German Shorthaired Pointers are often discarded, given up, abandoned, and returned due to their high energy level and strong hunting drive. Some are discarded by hunters because they won’t hunt, or they may be “gun-shy.” We have fallen in love with this often misunderstood breed. ..So…Cello, Hooch, Brian, and I have been volunteering for the GSP Rescue of NJ. We have made phone calls to vets for background checks and references, visited GSPs in shelters to evaluate them and offer the help of the GSP rescue, called potential adopters for initial screening and application review, transported GSPs to their foster homes, temporarily fostered, and have done home inspections for potential adopters. Cello and Hooch have even volunteered as donation dogs, wearing a donation vests and “working the crowd” with their cuteness at events such as the Ocean County Gunning and Decoy Show in Tuckerton, NJ.

Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel
In order to reach Holiday Trav-L-Park Campground, we had to go over/under the Chesapeak Bay Bridge-Tunnel !
It was so exciting – yet scary at the same time – and extremely beautiful!

Shipps Corner Monster Splash, Virginia Beach, VA
Cello participated in her first Halloween-themed dock diving event, held at Shipps Corner in Virginia Beach, Va. Shipps Corner is a DockDogs sanctioned facility, which means Cello’s performance counted toward her National ranking, rather than her club-level ranking.

Look Who Made the Papers!
Cello made the papers from her event at Pooch Palooza! Her picture was published in Ocean City Today:
Delmarva DockDogs Unleashed at Pooch Palooza, at Frontier Town Campground, Berlin, MD
This was the first time Cello has competed in this Delmarva DockDogs event, hosted by Delmarva Unleashed, and held at the Frontier Town Campground.
Unfortunately the DockDogs website is under construction, and I cannot post the exact results for Cello at this time. However, I can say it was a great weekend for Cello! She won several medals, made the Big Air Elite Division (23′ to 24’11” range) Finals, finishing in first place, earning herself a cash prize, big ribbon, and gift bag! Our good friend, John, and his dog , Storm, finished in second place, so it was a very exciting Big Air Elite Finals competition!
Cello gave it her best at Extreme Vertical again – this time finishing in third place in the Cadet Division, earning herself a cash prize, big ribbon, and gift bag!

Hooch is still too young to go off the dock, but we did show him the pool and gave him a chance to fetch his toy!

Frontier Town Campground, Berlin, MD
We camped at Frontier town Campground in Berlin, MD for Cello’s Pooch Palooza dock diving event. I have to say – this may be one of my favorite campgrounds!
I can’t wait to go back!!
This campground boats a theme park, water park, crabbing docks, arcade, restaurant (with excellent food!!), saloon, miniature golf, horse back riding, water park, and a “High Ropes” obstacle course suspended in the air in the trees!

We stayed on site “Red 14” (Z 16) – and it was AWESOME! The only other site we saw that was slightly better view than ours was Z 16.

This campground was fun, beautiful, and just minutes away from SO many great places like Ocean City, Assateague, and the quaint town of Berlin, MD!

After lunch at Macky’s, we decided it would be nice to take a stroll on the beach. We visited 53rd Street beach…another great adventure during our trip for Cello’s dock diving event at Pooch Palooza!

Macky’s Bar and Grill, Ocean City, MD
While out sight-seeing after Cello’s dock diving event at Pooch Palooza, we stopped at Macky’s Bar and Grill for some lunch and drinks.
This was one cool place!! Not only are they SUPER dog friendly, there is an outdoor beach and the view is gorgeous!
This was Hooch’s first experience at a bar/restaurant outside of his puppy carrier!
Hooch did not quite understand the “moving water!!”
Although it appears in the photos that Hooch is well behaved…Do NOT be fooled! Hooch knocked over the doggie water bucket (several times) onto our feet, dug huge holes in the sand, and jumped up and slapped his sandy paw right onto my delicious clams casino! Despite his devilish acts, the owner and staff loved Hooch! They were so friendly, and spent some time petting and kissing Cello and Hooch. Cello was disgusted with her baby brother’s behavior… we will be sure to work on this so that Hooch has manners at his next bar hopping adventure!
Assateague National Seashore, Berlin, MD
After Cello’s first day of Dock Diving at Pooch Palooza , we drove to Assateague National Seashore. It was so cool to see the horses roaming free!
While we were driving, the horses were walking right down the street toward our car – there were several times we had to just stop until the horse decided to move. I took this picture in the passenger seat with my phone inside of our car:
There were horses EVERYwhere…and I can see now why the park has signs such as this posted:
At first, I was thinking, WHY would they even have to post those signs? Isn’t that common sense? …Apparently NOT! …
These people look closer than 10 feet to me! 
We then drove to the beach:
…and Hooch stepped foot on a beach for the first time ever!
I think he liked it!
…until that “weird sounding water” crept up on everybody!!
Aside from the “moving water,” Hooch had a blast during his first trip to the beach, we enjoyed the beautiful views, and Cello made it her “job” to tell off every horse we saw from the back seat of our car 😉
Delmarva DockDogs Jumping Into Jersey at the 2014 Ocean County Gunning and Decoy Festival, Tuckerton, NJ
This is Cello’s second year in a row competing in Delmarva DockDogs “Jumping Into Jersey” event at the Ocean County Gunning and Decoy Festival, held annually at Tuckerton Seaport in Tuckerton, NJ.
Unfortunately the DockDogs website is under construction, so I cannot post her exact results, but Cello did win several Big Air medals during this event, and even made the Big Air Finals, finishing third in the Elite (23′ to 24′ 1″ rage) Finals Division, earning a cash prize, bit ribbon, and a gift bag!
Big Air Divisions:
Novice: 0’1″ – 9’11”
Junior: 10’0″ – 14’11”
Senior: 15’0″ – 19’11”
Master: 20’0″ – 22’11”
Elite: 23’0″ – 24’11”
Super Elite: 25′ and above

Cello also tried Extreme Vertical (high jump) for the first time! is a high jump contest. Dogs are released by their handlers, and launch upward to knock down a bumper, which is suspended over the water eight feet out from the end of the dock. The current world record is 8′ 11″ . Cello did really well for her first time, and placed 5th in the Cadet Division Finals, earning a big pretty ribbon!

4 Months

GSP Rescue of NJ at Valenzano Winery, Shamong, NJ
Hooch and Cello volunteered for the GSP Rescue of NJ at Valenzano Winery‘s Wine Festival.
Fellow GSP Rescue volunteers Jen and Grace made Hooch his very own personalized donation vest!
EVERYone wanted to know if Hooch was available for adoption!
Hooch was exhausted from all the attention!
The wine was delicious , and Cello and Hooch were a big hit, recruiting several people to fill out applications for volunteering, and even adopting!

Hooch Graduated From Puppy Head Start Class, WonderDogs, Berlin, NJ
After 6 weeks, Hooch graduated from his Puppy Head Start class at WonderDogs in Berlin, NJ, where Cello has also taken many classes.
Puppy Head Start is for puppies that are between the ages of 9 to 16 weeks at the start of class. This class is an introduction to puppy raising and management. Lessons taught included polite greeting behavior, walking on leash without pulling, the emergency down (drop), leaving things alone when told to, discussions on mouthing, house-training, safe socialization, and other subjects of importance to puppy owners. Each class lasted approximately an hour, including supervised playtime.
Hooch got a Philadelphia Eagles Jersey, Eagles tug-toy, and a foot ball for graduation gifts 🙂
Hooch’s next class: “Terrible Teens!” This class is for adolescent pups from 17 weeks to 12 months. This class will center on basic obedience, with a primary focus on how to utilize these exercises to produce a well-mannered pup. Discussions in class will center on exploring our dogs’ behaviors, and solutions to the problems commonly seen at this developmental stage.
For All of You Who Wonder Why We Do What We Do…
A lot of people ask me WHY we would want to spend most of our free weekends traveling many miles to take Cello to dock diving events and practices. Most don’t understand why we enjoy this so much. Some are disappointed that we miss other events to attend dock diving competitions and practices. Many people chuckle, and even roll their eyes, when they hear my answer to the their question of “What did you do this weekend?” I get counter responses like, “It’s just a dog” (Ummm – really?! Click HERE to find out what “Just a dog” means to US, and why we feel sorry for those who “Just don’t understand!”) …”Your dog does WHAT?” … “So, let me get this straight… you spent your whole weekend watching your dog jumping into a pool?” …”You’re kidding, right?” (No, …we are NOT kidding!!)
Aside from spending time with some of coolest dogs and nicest people we have ever met, there’s an even greater reason…
I found this on Facebook, and It couldn’t explain any better just WHY we do what we do:
WHY TITLE A DOG?
Not just a brag, not just a stepping stone to a higher title, not just an adjunct to competitive scores, a title is a tribute to the dog that bears it, a way to honor the dog, an ultimate memorial. It will remain in record and in memory for as long as anything in this world can remain. Few humans will do as well or better in that regard.
And though the dog itself doesn’t know or care that its achievements have been noted, a title says many things in the world of humans, where such things count.
A title says your dog was intelligent and adaptable, and good-natured. It says that your dog loved you enough to do the things that please you, however crazy they may have sometimes seemed.
And a title says that you loved your dog, that you loved to spend time with it because it was a good dog, that you believed in it enough to give it yet another chance when it failed, and that in the end, your faith was justified.
A title proves that your dog inspired you to that special relationship enjoyed by so few; that in a world of disposable creatures, this dog with a title was greatly loved, and loved greatly in return.
And when that dear short live is over, the title remains as a memorial of the finest kind, the best you can give to a deserving friend, volumes of pride in one small set of initials after the name.
A title earned is nothing less than love and respect, given and received, and permanently recorded.

15 Weeks
Today Hooch turns 15 weeks old! This has been a VERY exciting week for us because Hooch decided that he FINALLY likes the lake – and dove in all by himself! It started with Hooch jumping in to follow Cello. Then Brian started throwing a ball – and Hooch dove in off the steps to retrieve it! We are VERY excited! This week we continue to work on name recognition, “come,” “down” with duration, and will be adding “leave-it” to our practice schedule.
Here is Hooch diving in after his ball! The ball is still a bit big for him – so it took some effort to grab it!
We call Cello our little Dock Diving Diva… will Hooch be our little Dock Diving Dude?! We are anxious to see if in the following weeks Hooch will attempt to dive off the dock!

14 Weeks
Hooch is now 14 weeks old! I can’t believe 7 weeks have passed since we brought this little nugget home!
He has grown and changed so much in those 7 weeks!

3 Months
On August 24th, Hooch turned 3 months old! He is making great progress with “sit,” “down,” and “come!” He has even ventured into the baby pool, and has gotten over his fear of the hose! (Hoping by 4 months he jumps in the lake all by himself!)

Saugerties/Woodstock KOA, Saugerties, NY
We stayed at the Saugerties/Woodstock KOA, located in Saugerties, NY for Cello’s dock diving event at the Dutchess County Fair.
The hosts could not have been nicer at this KOA! They met us at the gate (even though we arrived after hours) and led us to our campsite.

Dutchess County Fair Dock Diving Event, Rhinebeck, NY
Cello participated in the Dutchess County Fair dock diving competition hosted by DockDogs WorldWide. Although she did not perform well, Cello had a blast diving into the pool, Hooch enjoyed MUCH attention from visitors, and Brian and I had a nice time spending the day with fellow dock diving competitors!
While at this event, Cello met another dock diving GSP named Cody! Cody’s parents found him listed on Craig’s list!! They saved this handsome GSP, and have seen him through cancer. Cody is a GREAT pup. A couple of weeks after this event, we have received the sad news that Cody has cancer again. He will be going through chemotherapy treatments – please keep this baby in your thoughts and prayers.

Cello Earned Her Elite Club Title
Cello has earned her Elite Title at the Club level!
This means that when Cello is competing in a Club sponsored event, she must jump a distance of 23’0 to 24’11” in order to earn a medal.
Congratulations, Cello! We are so proud of you!
Keystone DockDogs Cabela’s End of Summer Splash, Hamburg, Pennsylvania
Cello participated in Keystone DockDogs End of Summer Splash dock diving event held at Cabela’s in Hamburg, Pa.
Cabela’s is an amazing store on its own – but add dock diving, and it’s THE coolest!
We even got to camp right at Cabela’s with some of our other fellow Keystone members.
Best of all, Cello earned her Elite title at the “club” level, AND won first place overall in the Masters Division finals!!

What a great weekend!
GSP Rescue of NJ at Doggie Appreciation Day
Yesterday Brian, Cello, Hooch, and I volunteered for the GSP Rescue of NJ at Doggie Appreciation Day, held on the grounds of L’Oreal in Cranbury, NJ. This was a free, dog-friendly event.
Just some of the great activities going on were:
- Puppy stadium races
- 10th annual NJ State Puppy Limbo Championship
- NJ State Dog Bone Stacking Contest
- Rescue Bingo all day (great prizes to benefit our Rescue friends)
- Raffles
- Doggie Swimming Pools
- Over 75 Rescue Groups and Pet Vendors
This event was an opportunity to talk to people about German Shorthaired Pointers and rescue/adoption. It’s important as a rescue to “get the word out” of animal-related events happening in the area, and spread the word about the work rescues do. Brochures and other materials were available to help publicize our organization, rescued GSPs were present, and adoptable GSPs were displayed on a information board.

Overall, it was a great day spent education people about the breed and rescue!
11 Weeks
Today Hooch turns 11 weeks old! I can’t believe how much he has changed since the day we met him!
This week Hooch has perfected his “sit,” and has begun to understand “down.” He has had less potty accidents in the house, and has grown SO much!! He was watching his sister, Cello, this week jumping off the dock, and decided to jump in himself!! Of course I missed recording the jump – but I was able to catch his not-so-graceful swim back to shore on video! (video below!)

Featured Bird Dog of the Day!
10 Weeks
Hooch turned 10 weeks old on August 2, 2014. This week he traveled to a new state (Massachusetts) to watch this sister, Cello compete in a dock diving contest. Hooch also visited his first dog friendly restaurant and bar during his stay in Massachusetts.
Charlie’s Kitchen, Cambridge, MA (Harvard Square)
Each day after Cello was finished for the day at her Regional Event, we ventured over to Cambridge, MA (Harvard Square), and got a bite to eat and some cocktails at Charlie’s Kitchen. We sat in the Beer Garden, and just LOVED it! Read more about Charlie’s Kitchen HERE!
Before going to any dog-friendly establishment that I have found online, I always call ahead to verify that the place is in fact still dog friendly. When I had called Charlie’s to ask if it was true that dogs were allowed, the woman who answered the phone said “If you come, please don’t come withOUT your dog!!” We were thrilled, and we were not disappointed with our visit!
When we entered Charlies, most every employee stopped what they were doing to come over to greet Cello and Hooch as if they were celebrities! We were welcomed at both the bar and the outdoor seating areas. A Pabst Blue Ribbon water bowl was immediately brought out for Cello and Hooch.
Charlie’s had some great choices on their menu – check it out HERE! On our first visit, we could not resist to try the Lobster Roll! It was awesome! Brian chose to get french fries as his side choice, and I got fried green beans as mine (DELICIOUS!!) Our wine was served in cute little pilsner glasses.

On our second visit, we chose to split two of their signature burgers. We ordered one Double Crab Cheese Burger and one Lobster Burger, and again, were not disappointed! Both burgers were AWESOME. Brian tried the sweet potato fries as his side, and I, again, got the fried green beans.

Charlie’s Kitchen has a super-cool atmosphere, great food, tasty drinks, and is by far one of THE most dog friendly restaurant/bars we have been to!
…oh – and has my most favorite sign ever:
Outback Steakhouse, Lowell, MA
Hooch’s first restaurant experience!!
We decided to try Outback Steakhouse for dinner while we were in MA. Brian and I have not been there in years!
We just HAD to order a Bloomin’ Onion for our appetizer. In addition to enjoying some wine at the outdoor seating area, Brian ordered a steak – and I enjoyed an Ahi Tuna appetizer. The staff were very friendly, and welcomed Cello and Hooch with a water bowl, and lots of attention!
North Eastern Regionals, Somerville, MA
This past weekend, Cello competed in the DockDogs North Eastern Regionals, hosted by DockDogs WorldWide. This National DockDogs event was held in Somerville, MA, at the new Assembly Row, a new waterfront shopping area. Check it out HERE! The dock was set up with a pretty back-drop of the Mystic River.
We entered Cello in this competition because if a dog places 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in their division (Cello currently holds both Club and National level titles in the Masters Division), they will earn an invitation to the DockDogs World Championships in Dubuque, Iowa in November.
We had a great time hanging out with some great people and friends we have met throughout Cello’s dock diving adventures, and were lucky enough to get a spot to set up right next to them! This was Hooch’s first dock diving event!

Although this was an exciting event, Cello did not perform well. She did not seem very excited to get on the dock, as she normally does, and she didn’t have her usual” lightning speed take-off” either. She did not place in either of her two jumps, nor did she make the finals. However, we are still very proud of her, and were excited to be a part of a National Regional event!

Brian tried his best to adjust his throws, and get Cello to leave the dock where she was supposed to. Even though there was improvement in her distance, it was not enough to place in the final round.

Dock diving friends we spent the weekend with all made it to finals – and all placed in the final round, earning their invite to the World Championship! Great job, guys!
Cello is registered in 4 more events this season, and still has a chance to be invited to finals if her overall average “makes the grade” toward the end of the season… (Fingers crossed!!)

9 Weeks
This week Hooch regressed in the crate a bit. He’s only making it about 1.5 hours during the day in the crate with no accident, and about 2-3 hours at night. However, he is also very inconsistent with this.
Hooch discovered he had a “voice” this week and has barked a few times! Hear his “voice” here:

Hooch learned “sit!” this week. He will respond to the verbal command, and will sit any time he sees Cello sit. I will continue working with him the next week to learn the hand signal for sit as well.

Hooch is still not fond of the lake. (AAAHHH!) He will watch Cello jump in after her training bumper, but Hooch will not get in the lake yet!

Although the Lake didn’t go over well again this week, Hooch did finally get in Cello’s baby pool after some serious coaxing with the squeaky tennis ball!
At first, Hooch thought Cello’s pool was just a big water bowl (Cello was disgusted by this!):

Practice Makes Perfect!
On Sunday, Cello attended Chesapeake DockDog’s practice at Detour Winery in Keymar, MD in preparation for her Regional Competition coming up in August!
Hooch came along to cheer Cello on, and to (hopefully!!) watch how dock diving is done!
Cello practiced her Big Air distance and did really well!
Brian decided to try Cello at Extreme Vertical … and she did awesome for her first time! She grabbed the bumper at 5’4″ !

Cello will be competing August 1 – 3 in the North Eastern Regionals in Somerville, MA, in hopes to earn an invitation to the DockDogs Worlds Championships in November! GO CELLO!

Detour Vineyard and Winery
Hooch now has his first winery visit under his belt! Cello’s dock diving practice was held at Detour Vineyard and Winery in Keymar, MD. Cello had already been to this winery when she participated in the PuppyPalooza dock diving event earlier this season.

Detour Winery has some really unique-tasting wines! They also stock many local stores with their wines.
Crossing the Mason-Dixon Line

On the first of many-to-come traveling adventures for this little GSP, Hooch crossed back and forth over the Mason-Dixon line while traveling to and from Round Top Campground (Gettysburg, Pennsylvania) and Cello’s dock diving practice at Detour Winery (Keymar, MD). Cello already had this “Been There/Done That” post under her belt when she participated in the PuppyPalooza dock diving event earlier this season.

“Mason and Dixon Line, also called Mason-Dixon Line, originally the boundary between Maryland and Pennsylvania in the United Sates. This week I made it 2 hours in my crate with no accidents, and I am starting to look at my mommy and daddy when I go potty, since I know a treat and “party” is held after every time I “go!”

When we found out that Limoncello’s mother had another litter, we could not help but go visit her, and see the puppies.
On May 24, 2014, Cello’s Mom, Shoal Branch Ladybird (“Lady”) gave birth to 10 puppies… we are now the proud parents of one of them!

Introducing “Windy Spot’s Homemade Hooch!” (Hooch for short!):
Why “Windy Spot’s Homemade Hooch?” When we bought our log home, Brian was able to search back to the original deed of the home and find the first owner of our cabin, which was built in 1927. Brian google-searched the man’s name for the heck of it, and his search brought up a link for the English Setters Club in Medford, NJ. The first owner of our home owned an award-winning GSP (which is how we ended up wanting a GSP), and Windy Spot was the name of that first dog and award winning GSP that lived in our home. We named our cabin Windy Spot, after that GSP, before we even met Cello. Read about our story here!
Hooch climbed right into Brian’s lap…and the rest is history!

The name “Windy Spot’s Homemade Hooch” … Incorporates the name of the first dog/GSP that lived here, and also refers to Limoncello being the “Hooch” that we make here at our cabin, Windy Spot… AND connects his name to Cello’s too 🙂

Banana Biscotti
A week or so ago, I saw this yummy recipe on Dog Treat Kitchen. Tonight I decided to bake these treats for Cello. Cello is currently on a grain-free diet, so I knew I had to alter the ingredients a bit. I decided I would exclude the rolled oats in the original recipe, and substitute Buckwheat flour for the whole wheat flour also listed in the original recipe.
At the same time I was preparing to bake some treats, I also decided to boil my usual batch of hard-boiled eggs for my breakfast, and for Cello’s weekly dinner additive. Perhaps doing two things at once was not such a good idea!
…Figuring I was being super-productive getting the eggs and biscotti done simultaneously, I was too focused on rushing, and was not attentive enough to the biscotti ingredient preparations! After I had already started boiling the eggs, I reviewed the ingredients for the biscotti. …OOPS! …
The recipe called for 2 eggs – and now I was all out. I Google searched what I could substitute for eggs, and was pleasantly surprised to find that 1/4 cup of applesauce could be substituted for each egg in most backing recipes. As luck would have it, I had some organic, unsweetened applesauce in the fridge (PHEW!!)… turns out, my mistake blossomed into a blessing…the biscotti turned out great!! They were nice-and-sweet with the added apple sauce!
Ingredients:
- 2 medium organic bananas
- 1/4 cup organic peanut butter (organic, so salt or sugar added)
- Be sure that the peanut butter you use doesn’t contain xylitol)
- 1/2 cup organic, unsweetened applesauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 1/4 cups organic Buckwheat flour (may need extra to add, depending on the consistency/level of stickiness you are comfortable with)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350° F
- Place the peeled bananas and peanut butter into a large microwave safe bowl.
- Microwave the bananas and peanut butter for 30-60 seconds, to soften.
- Thoroughly mash the bananas while mixing in the peanut butter.
- Mix in the applesauce.
- Stir in the water.
- Make a well in the center of the flour and pour in the banana mixture.
- Using a fork, stir together the wet and dry ingredients until completely combined. If needed, use your hands to mix together the mixture.
- Lightly spray a baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray.
- Turn out your dough ball onto the prepared baking sheet. Gently press the ball into a rectangular loaf shape about 1 inch thick. Try to make your shape as uniform as possible for even baking.
- Bake for 20 minutes.
- Let the banana biscotti loaf cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes.
- Cut the loaf in half, lengthwise.
- Cut strips about 1 inch thick.
- Place the slices, cut side down, and bake for another 20 minutes.
- Turn biscotti pieces over (flip), and bake another 20 minutes.
- Turn the oven off, and let the treats cool completely in the oven.
